Ladies, men, young and old - - we are still in need of volunteers! We are 11 days away from holding the Classis meeting here at First CRC on September 16. We still need 6 or 7 more people to help serve 2 lunches and a dinner. The lunches and the meal will be provided. Please call Dan Marcus – 320-212-1828 or Darla at the office – 978-4323.
The Council plans to meet on Tuesday, September 7, beginning at 7:00 pm, DV. One item on the agenda is nomination of elder and deacon candidates for the congregational meeting in December. Please be in prayer for the Council as it meets.
On Tuesday, September 7, the Council will discuss and prepare a nomination of six elders and six deacons to replace the following persons: Retiring elders – Duane Bonnema, Tim Slagter, and Andy Ypma. Retiring deacons – Brad Bonnema, Steve Hines, and Pete Roorda.
Education is for everyone. Hey everyone! It’s September and that means it’s time to start another Sunday School season. Youth and family ministry has already kicked-off with many others starting in the next few weeks. Sunday School, Children’s Church, Caleb & Sara and Catechism will start September 19. Sunday School and Catechism teachers - - will you please meet next Sunday (September 12) after the a.m. service for a short meeting and also to get your materials in the Fireside Room of the Fellowship Hall. Also, you might have noticed the education display set up in the foyer of church. The display will be there for the next three weeks. Please take time to look it over. It’s important we all know what’s being taught and what we are learning in our church education program. Thank you. The Education Committee.
The library is open again. However, we are still missing some books that have been checked out over the last few months. Please make sure to return books and videos to the library on a timely basis. Check out the new books that have been added to the library. New books by Karen Kingsbury, Terri Blackstock, Francine Rivers, Tracie Peterson, Lynn Austin, plus many more are available. There is a new Veggie Tales DVD and also a couple of new youth fiction series by Frank Peretti. We have also received a copy of the book that gives the history of the Prinsburg Area. This book is entitled “A Time to Gather, A Time to Scatter”. Please ask one of the library committee members if you need help finding the books you want to read. A list of all new books and DVD’s is posted on the bulletin board in the library. Books have also been given in memory of Lewis & Grace Ledeboer and Gladys Korthuis by the Mission Club.
Do you have extra GEMS T-Shirts at your home? If your daughters have gently used GEMS T-shirts in their closets because they’ve outgrown them or graduated from GEMS, would you consider donating them back to the Prinsburg Club? We’d like to give current parents the opportunity to purchase gently used over new if that’s their preference. Please drop off your donated T-shirts at the Unity or First church offices or put them in Lenae Bulthuis’ church mailbox. Thanks!
GEMS Kick-Off Meeting! The Prinsburg GEMS Kick-Off Meeting is from 6:30 – 8:30 PM at Unity CRC on Wednesday night. It involves a Scavenger Hunt throughout Prinsburg so be ready for visitors! Girls, counselors, and Board Members, please bring your Registration Forms to the meeting. Girls, be sure to invite your friends! See you there!
Please support the GEMS Fundraisers! Last Sunday Papa Murphy’s Pizza sheets and Hand ‘n Hand Cookie/soup mixes/African Potholder & Hot Pads sheets were placed in your church mailboxes. The girls will also be selling them. Your generous support of the pizzas sales gives the Prinsburg GEMS Club needed funds for the season. Your bighearted support of the Hand ‘n Hand program supports our Prinsburg Club and helps the 76 GEMS Clubs that are in Zambia. For every North American Club that participates in the Hand ‘n Hand program, a group of Christian donors will give $500 to the Esther School, a school for underprivileged children that GEMS is building in Zambia. Please turn your order forms in to Wendy Swart, Gerri Ledeboer, Darla Ryks, Liz Marcus, or Pat Groen by September 19. Thanks for your support!
